Audio Data

In using Syllable, you will have noticed that there are times when it’s ‘listening’. For example, when it’s finding your average speaking pitch, or after you’ve pressed the ‘speak’ button.

During this time, Syllable is only creating summaries of the input pitches. No other audio features are captured. Though the app has access to what tone the learner may have been attempting, it could not differentiate between a learner speaking an ‘A’ sound from a learner pronouncing a ‘Z’ sound if the pitches are identical, for example.

In the future, we may want to leverage this information if we wanted to make your data available to you on the website, or research how students are using the app to suggest changes to our development team.

No information will be distributed to third-parties.

Even if it’s just a ‘piece’ of your voice, it’s still a part of you 🙂

Filesystem Permissions

Syllable only utilizes file-storage mechanisms insofar as it requires for the maintaining of its internal file structure and database.

Other Permissions

Syllable does not record geolocation, accelerometer, or image data (i.e. from the device camera) of any kind.
